Lokál is a restaurant chain in the Czech Republic, they have several locations in Prague and one in Brno and Plzeň. The original location, and the largest is Lokál Dlouhááaá. We ate at Lokál U Jiráta as it was a few minutes walk from our Airbnb. They have a slightly different menu every day featuring traditional Czech meals, though there are some items that are always on the menu. For our visit I tried the Beef Goulash which came with Czech dumplings (a staple here) while Tim opted for the Meatloaf (not always on the menu). The goulash was amazingly tasty and the dumplings were very helpful in soaking up the sauce. The meatloaf was very different from what we are familiar with in the states (no catsup smothering it to death), it was made from both beef and pork and was made without a saucy topping of any sort. The meatloaf also came with the creamiest mashed potatoes, they were definitely made with a ton of butter!
I’d read great things about the restaurant and even had a local resident of Prague recommend the restaurant to us, and it did not disappoint at all. Czech food is heavy, but they seem to know how to plate just the right amount of food so you walk away happy and satisfied without feeling over stuffed and miserable. The prices here are also very reasonable, for 2 meals, 2 meals, and a tip we paid about $30 USD.
